Pitkin County Caucus Meetings Mark Beginning of Political Season

The Pitkin County Republicans and Democrats held their caucus meetings in Aspen last night. Organizers say the turnout was surprisingly good considering it's an "off" election year.

It’s a mid-term election year and the race is already underway. Tuesday night, Democrats and Republicans in Aspen and around the state held their caucuses.  The local parties gathered to assess which candidates could win primary elections later this year. Aspen Public Radio's Elise Thatcher reports on the republican caucus.

More than 70 Pitkin County Republicans gathered at Aspen High School last night. Frieda Wallison is Chair of the local GOP and she says caucus turnout can vary widely depending on how important the elections are in the fall.

Hearing Set for Couple Charged With Murder

Two people charged with murdering a longtime Aspen resident will continue to be held without bail. William and Nancy Styler are in custody at the Pitkin County Jail in Aspen, and are expected to be charged in the case of Nancy Pfister. She was found dead in her home in West Buttermilk last week.

Tenants Charged With Murdering Nancy Pfister

  The Pitkin County Sheriff’s office has made two arrests in the investigation into the death of Aspen native Nancy Pfister. An older couple originally from a Front Range community are being charged with murder. They're being held without bond.

BREAKING: Arrests Made in Nancy Pfister Homicide Case

The Pitkin County Sheriff's office arrested two people today in connection to the murder of Aspen native Nancy Pfister. Pfister's body was discovered last week inside her West Buttermilk home. Authorities arrested William F. Styler III, 65 and Nancy Christine Styler, 62. Both are formerly from Castle Rock, Colorado. They moved to the Aspen area in the fall of 2013, where they rented out Ms. Pfister's home at 1833 West Buttermilk Road.

Non-Profit in the Spotlight: True Media Foundation, Part 1

 The True Media Foundation is based in Carbondale and is dedicated to teaching teenagers how to make media with social value. Chris Tribble, founder and director of True Media, shares the history of the organization and how it evolved from a successful video "mini-series" to a non-profit organization. Dana Marlatt, secretary of the board and an administrator for the foundation, also shares in the first part of a series on the True Media Foundation.
