Aspen Journalism has obtained five different video feeds from the January 5th crash of a private jet at the Aspen Airport. See below for more & video.

From Aspen Journalism:

"In response to a Colorado Open Records Act request from Aspen Journalism, the Aspen/Pitkin County airport has released video of the fatal jet crash that occurred on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014.

The video was captured by five different cameras normally used by airport officials to monitor activity on the ramps, or aprons, outside the general aviation and commercial aviation terminals."

Schwartz Aims to Bring Internet Access to Colorado's Rural Areas

State Senator Gail Schwartz is wrapping up her last term in office. She's introducing a bill that aims to bring broadband internet access to rural areas.

Lawmakers are meeting in Denver, as the legislative session ramps up. Already, bills targeting wildfire mitigation and renewable energy have been introduced. Senator Gail Schwartz of Snowmass Village is working on a number of bills during her last term in office. One aims to bring broadband internet access to remote and rural areas. The democrat is termed out after this year. Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen sat down with her on Monday.

Aspen resident Chris Klug has some advice for up and coming Olympic athletes: "have fun!" He's competed in three Olympics and survived a liver transplant.

Aspen athlete Chris Klug knows a thing or two about participating in the Olympics. The three-time Olympic snowboard racer no longer competes but fondly remembers his time on the international stage. Klug defied the odds, earning a bronze medal in the 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City after receiving a liver transplant. Aspen Public Radio's Marci Krivonen sat down with him recently to talk about what the rising stars in snowsports can expect in Sochi.

Birdwatchers Glimpse Owls in Basalt Under Full Moon

A full moon lit the way for a group of birdwatchers outside of Basalt. Last week, they walked around ACES' Rock Bottom Ranch, searching for owls.

Last week, under a gorgeous full moon on a cloudless night, a group of Roaring Fork Valley residents braved the cold to try and catch a glimpse of owls.  On a normal night owls can see better than humans and, not to mention, they can hear better than we do anytime day or night.  The Aspen Center for Environmental Studies held the moonlit walk at its Rock Bottom Ranch, just outside of Basalt.  Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen packed her binoculars and went along…

Jace Conflenti, an Aspen local and recent graduate of Aspen High School, spent time at the Aspen Youth Center while in middle and high school. He is now in his first year at the University of Colorado and works as a staff member during his summer and winter breaks from school.
