He’s a researcher and Professor of Neurology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver. Dr. Potter recently spoke with APR’s Elise Thatcher, as part of a series with health experts. Wispy cotton candy skies of orange, pink and purple beam out from the layered blue-green mountains and permeate the heavens. But I don’t have time for that.

Aspen Schools' Musician In-Residence Resurrects Jazz

Professor Ron Carter plays saxophone with middle and high school students in Aspen. He visited the Aspen School District this spring as the school's first ever musician in-residence.

The music department at the Aspen School District is growing, despite the odds. The budget for music is minimal compared to schools in other states. Last week though, the school welcomed its first ever musician in residence who taught middle and high school students jazz. Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen visited band practice and filed this report.

Band practice is in full swing on a Wednesday afternoon. Students with saxophones, trumpets and drums tap their feet as the piece they’re playing reaches a crescendo.

Voters Weigh In On Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District

Carbondale & Rural Fire Protection District

Voters in Carbondale are making a decision tomorrow. Five people are running for three open seats on the Board of Directors, for the Carbondale and Rural Fire Protection District. The board helps steer the district, which is mostly made up of volunteer firefighters. And a failed tax measure last fall prompted controversy over whether the district is meeting residents' needs.
