Aspenites React to New Lance Armstrong Film

Tarnished cyclist Lance Armstrong is at the center of an ongoing controversy about doping in the sport. He’s also now in the spotlight in Hollywood. The first of several anticipated movies about the iconic athlete recently showed in Aspen. In The Armstrong Lie, award winning director Alex Gibney examines the underbelly of the the cyclist’s career. Reporter Elise Thatcher caught up with viewers after a showing at the Wheeler Opera House in Aspen.

Basalt Prepares To Plant Urban, Edible Food Forest

Even though snow is ankle deep and winter’s far from over, gardeners in Basalt are gearing up for spring. This year, it’ll be hard to miss a new project just off Highway 82. A Town park will be transformed into a food forest or, an edible, urban garden. Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen explains.

"We are ready to go!"

Lisa DiNardo is the Town of Basalt’s Horticulturist. She’s in charge of beautifying Basalt’s public spaces and this year, there’s a new challenge: a food forest bordering the round-about at the entrance to Old Town.

Hydro Project in West-Central Colorado Will Provide Aspen with Power

The Ridgway dam will provide power to the City of Aspen's utility later this year. The project has been in the works for decades but will start providing power for the first time this year.

The City of Aspen is working toward powering its utility with 100-percent renewable energy. A good chunk of that energy will come from a new hydropower facility in Ridgway, Colorado. If all goes according to plan, the City will start getting power from the facility on February 20th. Aspen’s one of two entities purchasing power from the plant. Mike Berry is with the Tri-County Water Conservancy District, the organization running the plant. He spoke with Aspen Public Radio's Marci Krivonen.
