New Art Exhibit Pays Tribute to Aspen Artist Herbert Bayer

A new art exhibit in Aspen features the work of one of Aspen’s most well-known artists: Herbert Bayer. Bayer designed the Aspen Institute’s 40-acre campus and worked on projects in town, including redesigning the exterior paint job on the Hotel Jerome.

The exhibit, at the Doerr-Hosier Center’s Resnick Gallery, features photography, paintings, tapestry, and a world atlas. David Floria is the exhibit’s curator.

"He always loved being in the mountains and he really gave up a lot of international fame and recognition by being here."

Carbondale Company Protests Russia's Anti-Gay Laws

A small furniture design store in Carbondale designed a t-shirt protesting Russia's new anti-gay laws. The store's owners hope local Olympic athletes purchase them.

As winter sports athletes prepare for the Olympics in Sochi, attention is being focused on Russia’s new anti-gay laws, enacted earlier this year.  While some activists are calling for a boycott of Sochi, others hope to draw attention to the discriminatory law.  A small furniture design company in Carbondale has come up with a creative way to get its point across. Aspen Public Radio's Marci Krivonen reports.

A Different View of the Constitution

I was listening the other day to the Diane Rehm Show on Aspen Public Radio.  It was the Friday news round-up and the conversation included, as it often has over the last three months, the roll-out of the Affordable Care Act.  I was startled to hear one of the listeners who called into the show assert that the reelection of President Obama in 2012 meant that there could be no questioning of the ACA by any other branch of government, particularly by the majority Republican House of Representatives.  The President had won, this was his signature piece of legislation and that was that
