Amendment 66: Pros And Cons For Schools In Roaring Fork Valley

Groups across the state, including the Roaring Fork Valley's school districts, are weighing in on an education reform measure voters will see in November.

This week, Governor John Hickenlooper enthusiastically supported Amendment 66, calling it the single most important education reform initiative in the history of the United States. School districts in the Roaring Fork Valley are also weighing in on the measure.  Hyperbole aside, the amendment would change the way the state funds public schools. As Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen reports, school administrators aren’t the only groups sharing opinions before voters head to the polls in November.

THE SAYINGS OF TWILIGHT JESUS

Twilight Jesus was looking for a little home to add another notch in time. He was traveling by his soul, deep in his bones, to the wilderness of freedom. "I wait here where the band is tuning up. I love the music; it washes through me, my water. "

He had the spirit of a hummingbird, radiating or reflecting illumination. " But hey, sometimes the only joy that leaps toward me is the joy of grief. I can't get God to talk to me, not knowing has to be good enough. Praise the night, the dreams that safely cradle you."

Economic Boost from Bike Race? Probably not.

Planning for next year’s USA Pro Challenge bike race in Aspen is already underway.   Despite some complaints this year because of road closures it appears the bike race has the support of local government officials and will become a yearly event.  This despite a lack of evidence showing any economic gains for the upper valley.   Aspen Public Radio's Roger Adams explains:
