Festival Showcase - 2014 Season Preview

The 2014 Aspen Public Festival season begins this week. Today, for the first Festival Showcase of the new season, host Chris Mohr is joined Alan Fletcher, President and CEO of the Aspen Music Festival and School, and Asadour Santourian, Vice President of Artistic Administration and Artistic Advisor, to talk about the upcoming 2014 season and the theme of the New Romantics. Then we listen to Music Director Robert Spano’s inspiring words at yesterday’s Convocation.

Found: Seafaring APR Water Bottle

The Aspen Public Radio membership water bottle found washed up on a beach at San Pancho, Mexico by local resident Andy Hanson.

You might find a member station sticker on a car or even run into a fellow traveler sporting some fashionable threads from the same station you support miles-and-miles from home. But, Andy Hanson came across an Aspen Public Radio membership premium while on vacation in a very interesting way.

Granted, it has seen better days.

Bumpy Tour Gives Visitors A Glimpse Into Aspen's Mining History

This summer the City of Aspen is partnering with the Aspen Historical Society to show off Aspen’s mining history. Silver mining on Smuggler Mountain was big business in the late 1800’s. Now, remnants of that legacy are easy to find and highlighted on a weekly public jeep tour. Aspen Public Radio’s Marci Krivonen went along for the ride, bumps and all, and filed this report.

Associate Director and Artistic Director for Ceramics, Doug Casebeer, talks about the ceramics program at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center. The center has one of the best ceramic facilities in the country - allowing ceramic artists to practice traditional and contemporary ceramics.
