Due to climate change being a global issue, organizations like the Aspen Global Change Institute (AGCI) need to have feelers all over the country. In 2013, AGCI opened an office in Washington D.C. where Program Director, James Arnott is now based. Arnott discusses AGCI's role in the nation's capital and John Katzenberger, AGCI's co-founder and director, explains the positive steps being made in the Roaring Fork Valley.

RMI Planning to Build "Deep Green" Building in Basalt

Rocky Mountain Institute is planning to move its headquarters from Old Snowmass to a new Innovation Center in Basalt.

The non profit Rocky Mountain Institute is moving forward with plans to build an “Innovation Center” in downtown Basalt. The organization submitted a sketch plan to Town Council last month and if council supports it, construction could start in the fall. RMI specializes in sustainability and energy efficiency and the structure near the Roaring Fork River, will be highly efficient. The $15 million building will be double the size of the group’s current headquarters in Old Snowmass.

VA to Veterans: You May Already Qualify For Health Care

The Affordable Care Act has forced residents along the Roaring Fork Valley to figure out what to do about insurance… whether it’s sign up for a plan, or pay a fine. But many in the Valley can already get discounted or free care. That's because Veterans Affairs, or the VA, has opened up its doors to more military veterans who served in the Vietnam War or the Persian Gulf War (also called Operation Desert Storm).

So for Boarder/Ski Cross, I am now in the bleachers, shooting friends and family and crowd. Everybody's changing up for variety¹s sake.  The super slo-mo I was doing was fun because it was such a challenge, but I think I’ll welcome the change ­ because there will be a lot less stress with this assignment. With the former, I frankly cringed each time the replays began rolling, as that’s when the focus failures were accentuated.  90% of the time, mine worked.
