Born in New Jersey and raised there and in Southern California, Tom's interest in entertainment was piqued early by a television-producing father and the excitement the Beatles-sparked "British Invasion" brought to his transistor radio. His passion for the mountains and love of the outdoors really began with a visit to Yosemite National Park at age 13 so it was no surprise that he ended up studying music at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
Moving to Aspen in the mid-1970s for the now-cliché "just one season", Tom stayed "for the summers" and began his radio career on KSPN in 1980. Eventually becoming the "drive-time" morning host there and later on KSNO, Tom has also hosted programs on local TV stations Channel 16, Plum TV and Grassroots Community Television. Additionally he has written for both The Aspen Times and the Aspen Daily News as well asAspen Magazine, EdibleAspen and other local and regional publications. He has announced events ranging from the Aspen Celebrity Downhill to Freestyle Fridays at Aspen Highlands and has been emcee at everything from benefits at the Wheeler to weddings at the Sundeck. As Communications Director for the Aspen Historical Society from 2006 to 2011 he helped that organization in numerous ways grow into a respected and active member of the local non-profit community.
When he's not feeding that outdoor passion by skiing, biking, hiking, sailing or golfing he can often be found planning some new, hopefully exotic travel adventure with his wife Doreen. Also known as the "Star Geezer", he fully expects to see Haley's Comet for a second time (in 2061), still considers himself a ski bum at heart and misses the veggie #9 at La Cocina.
