Travis Bubenik

Travis graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, where he spent most of his time working for UT's student-run radio station, KVRX. There he hosted an alternative folk program for over 2 years, served as Traffic Manager, and was eventually appointed Station Manager.

After graduating, Travis took on a full-time radio internship with Marfa Public Radio in the sprawling Chihuahuan Desert region of West Texas. In June of 2013 he joined KVNF as the News Director , and is tasked with reporting on regional events and issues. He also produces KVNF's weekly public affairs program Local Motion.

Ouray County Mine Cited for Nearly 100 Safety Violations

Update Friday, December 20: According to the Watch newspaper, MSHA says the 97 citations handed out to Star Mine Operations in the first week of December were issued during so-called "spot" inspections, and weren't issued as violations that contributed to the deaths of two men at the Revenue-Virginius mine in late November.
