With 66 percent support in both Pitkin and Eagle counties, the Basalt & Rural Fire Protection District was granted a continued twenty years of financial support from property owners in this fall’s election.
Ballot measure 4A asked voters to continue to pay what they already were paying to help the district fulfill a bond, even though the bond will be fully repaid this year.
Now the money will go to the capital fund, helping with employee housing, new fire trucks and other big ticket items. Basalt Fire Deputy Chief Pete Bradshaw says that it will help as that portion of the valley grows in population.
