Aspen Club hosts Aspen Sports Summit

The science of sports will be front and center during a new event in the Upper Valley this weekend. The Aspen Club is hosting the Aspen Sports Summit. It’s designed for a wide audience, from professionals to concerned parents.

Aspen resident Bill Fabrocini is a physical therapy specialist and training coach. He’s organizing the event, and explains one of the key topics this way. “It might be we’re more aware of it, but it seems like more and more people are having hip replacements,” says Fabrocini. “That’s the older crowd. But on the kids end we’re seeing more and more kids with hip issues.”

Information about concussions will also be on tap. Fabrocini says he’s been thinking about holding such an event for several years, but was motivated by his fiftieth birthday. The summit starts today, Friday, and continues through tomorrow. It’s a fundraiser for The Mercy and Sharing Rehabilitation Center and the Marshall Direct Fund.
