Aspen Film announces Academy Screenings

Aspen Film announced its schedule for the 24th edition of the the Academy Screenings Program.

 

 

The lineup features movies that will surely be in the awards conversations later this year.

The first movie of the program is “Spotlight”, starring Michael Keaton, Mark Ruffalo and Rachel McAdams. It follows the story of a journalist exposing an abuse scandal at a Catholic Church.

 

On Saturday, Dec. 26, “The End of the Tour” featuring Jason Segel and Jesse Eisenberg premieres. The film tells the story of two young writers, David Foster Wallace and and the Rolling Stone journalist tasked with covering him.

 

The schedule also features two films about musicians. “Love & Mercy” tells the story of Brian Wilson, the lead singer of the Beach Boys. The character is played by John Cusack and Paul Dano. “Amy” documents the rise and untimely death of singer Amy Winehouse.

 

“Bridge of Spies” and “Sicario” are also playing and provide some government and spy action to the festival.

 

The festivities begin on Dec. 22 and run through Jan. 2.
