The Aspen Music Festival and School received a large financial gift on Monday. Allison and Warren Kanders gave the institution an endowment gift of $2.5 million.
The Sunday performance series during this year’s Aspen Music Festival and School will be named the “Allison and Warren Kanders Sunday Concert Series”.
Allison Kanders said in a press release that, “the music allows us to meditate and takes us on a journey in a magnificent setting.”
The first performance of the Sunday concert series is on July 3. Strauss’ “Four Last Songs” will be played.
The school spends about $15 million each summer to keep the school running.
