Assistant Pitkin County Attorney selected to be judge

Gov. John Hickenlooper has appointed a new judge for the Ninth Judicial District that serves the Roaring Fork Valley.

Chris Seldin currently serves as assistant county attorney for Pitkin County. He will fill a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Gail Nichols. She’s due to leave office November 1st. Seldin was one of six applicants for the job.

In his career, Seldin has focused on civil litigation, with an emphasis on land use and real estate law, child welfare and adult protection law, constitutional law and other specialties. He also served as a Basalt Town Trustee.

Prior to his work in Pitkin County, Seldin worked as associate attorney at Heller Ehrman White & McAuliffe in San Francisco, and as a law clerk to Judge Gregory Hobbs of the Colorado Supreme Court.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Dartmouth and law degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
