It’s take two for Basalt’s long awaited underpass. The Town had to go back to the drawing board last fall when bids came in too high.
Engineers had projected the cost to be about $5 million, but contractors wouldn’t go below more than $7 million. An engineering firm working with the town has revised the design of the underpass to bring down the cost, eliminating a proposed waterproof membrane that would have gone under underneath.
