Boston Out As U.S. Candidate For 2024 Olympics

Now that Boston is out of the picture, the U.S. Olympic Committee wants to explore other opportunities to host the 2024 Games.

In a statement Monday announcing the end of the bid in Boston, USOC CEO Scott Blackmun said the federation was still interested in mounting a bid for the Summer Games.

He didn’t mention any city specifically, though the best bet is Los Angeles would be the candidate.

L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti released a statement saying that his office hadn’t had any recent conversations with the USOC but he’d be happy to have them.

The official deadline for the USOC to submit a candidate city is Sept. 15.
