The new politically charged play “Building the Wall” is getting its Aspen debut Tuesday at the Ideas Festival.

The play envisions the year 2019 as a dystopia, when the Trump administration has carried out the president-elect’s promise to detain millions of immigrants.

Productions have popped up nationwide since March, including a brief off-Broadway run in New York. Curious Theatre Company in Denver was second in the country to stage the production in April.

Curious Theatre will revive its version of the play tonight at 7:30 p.m. Robert Shenkkan, who has continued to revise “Building the Wall” to reflect the current administration, will be in town.

The story takes place in a prison, with a professor interviewing a former guard awaiting sentencing.
