Businesses, not homes, could be future for Old Sopris Restaurant land

Garfield County Commercial Investments, LLC.

The old Sopris Restaurant south of Glenwood Springs could be replaced by businesses instead of houses. Most recently home to Dos Hermanos, the empty restaurant sits south of the intersection of Spring Valley Road and Highway 82, on land that’s been zoned for homes.

Garfield County Commercial Investments, LLC is asking Garfield County for permission to build businesses instead on the 43 acre parcel. That could include “office space, anything from general services establishment to eating and drinking establishments, and so forth,” according to Garfield County’s Planning Manager Tamra Allen. In November, the County will begin one of two reviews of the proposed rezoning.
