Take 6 celebrated its 25th anniversary last year.  Baritone Khristian Dentley is a relative newcomer. He joined the group in 2004 and said Take 6 has maintained its energy throughout the decades because the members see each other as brothers.

“We are actually a team. We pray for each other, we laugh with each other, we cry with each other, we have a great time just doing life together and so that’s the gel, the glue that keeps us together,” said Dentley.

Dentley said that the appeal of a capella music lies in the fact that it doesn’t rely on the middle-man of musical instruments.

“I think that when we use our natural, God-given human voices to create music, it’s actually music in its purest form,” said Dentley.

“Georgia On My Mind: A Tribute to Ray Charles” will also include special guests Nnenna Freelon, Clint Holmes and Kirk Whalum.
