Carbondale’s BOT will appoint new member

Carbondale’s Board of Trustees voted Tuesday night to appoint a new trustee.

The seat on the seven-person board became empty when former trustee Dan Richardson was elected mayor last month.

The board discussed whether to appoint the new trustee, or hold an election. All agreed the community’s input has been to appoint.

In lieu of an election, Trustee Katrina Byars said she wants there to be some process to get the public involved.

The board asks that applicants include 25 signatures from Carbondale residents. They have until Friday, Jan. 13, to submit their application.

Once the position is filled, he or she will serve until April of 2018, at which point an election will be held.
