After a month of interviewing candidates over the last month, Carbondale’s Creative District Governance Council has been formed.

The 11-member council includes people from the tourism, education and business sectors, among others.

Council member Laurie Bernhard told Aspen Public Radio last week it was important for the council to touch all of the bases in Carbondale and the arts. A creative district is a state designation that provides funding for art economies.

The Governance Council will create a budget as well as outline a larger strategic mission for the Creative District. The first meeting is currently schedule for early November.
