Carbondale's longest running event returns this weekend

On Saturday, the 106th edition of the Carbondale event offers locals a celebration of the town’s history as not only a potato producer, but also the birthplace of the Red McClure potato.

Craft vendors and live music will be present while 700 pounds of beef will be cooked in a pit in Sopris Park.

The festival also includes about 700 pounds of potatoes, and coincides with Roaring Fork High School’s homecoming.

Proceeds from food purchases benefit local groups, though no one has been selected to receive the donation yet.
