City of Aspen hires new parking director

After an extensive search, the city of Aspen has hired a new parking director. Aspen Public Radio’s Carolyn Sackariason has more.

Mitch Osur will start his new job on June 29. He replaces Tim Ware, who was reassigned as the city’s ice facilities supervisor last fall after a years-long scam was uncovered. The city was unaware that hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue was being lost because the pay stations accepted prepaid debit cards that had no money on them.

Osur, who lives in Carbondale, is currently the director of customer communication and fulfillment for American Recreation Products in Boulder. He has been a regional manager at Aspen Sports overseeing 14 retail and rental locations, including the pro shop at the Aspen Golf Club.

Osur was chosen out of more than 40 applicants. The city had to re-open the job posting earlier this year after the first round of applicants didn’t produce the right candidate.

Assistant City Manager Randy Ready says Osur is the right fit.

“He’s been very involved here. He’s got outstanding customer service skills, leadership skills and abilities and the revenue control, financial management skills we are looking for in this position,” he says.

Osur’s salary will be $89,000. Carolyn Sackariason, Aspen Public Radio news.
