CMC stands for immigration reform, for DREAMers

Aspen Public Radio

Last Friday, the board of Colorado Mountain College (CMC) unanimously passed a resolution in support of their DREAMer students who, the resolution states, deserve a pathway to citizenship.

DREAMers are the immigrants brought to the U.S. illegally by their parents who the Obama administration temporarily protected through a program called DACA, which stands for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals.

CMC doesn’t know how many DREAMers they’ve enrolled, but it’s estimated to be in the hundreds.

The college’s stance on these matters hasn’t exactly been a secret: In September, when the Trump administration rescinded DACA, CMC's president, Carrie Hauser, published a letter, pledging the college's commitment to all students, regardless of immigration status.
