Colorado state lawmaker arrested at Denver International Airport

A state lawmaker from Firestone, about 30 miles north of Denver, was arrested on Tuesday at Denver International Airport for carrying a firearm. She is being held, pending an investigation and possible charges.

The Denver Police Department confirmed that Republican Rep. Lori Saine was arrested on Tuesday. The case will be presented to the Denver District Attorney's Office.

Saine is a strong second amendment advocate and has a concealed carry permit. Last year she was the main sponsor of a bill that would have repealed Colorado’s ban on high capacity magazines.

Colorado lawmakers passed stricter gun laws after the 2012 Aurora Theater shooting. Saine’s bill to repeal the high capacity magazine ban was unsuccessful.
