Councilman will not resign; asks mayor to disclose information and recuse herself

Embattled Snowmass Village Town Councilman Chris Jacobson publicly said on Monday that he will not resign, a move the mayor had asked him to do.

Mayor Markey Butler asked him to step down after his June drunk driving arrest and subsequently, a felony charge related to the thousands of dollars in damage he allegedly did to the Pitkin County Jail.

Instead, Jacobson asked the mayor to recuse herself from the Base Village proposal in front of council. He did that after accusing her of having a conflict of interest because the nonprofit she runs accepted money from a potential investor in Base Village. Butler is the executive director of HomeCare & Hospice of the Valley.

A group of citizens have gathered signatures to recall the town councilman.
