Democrats and Republicans caucus tonight

Elise Thatcher

Caucusing is kind of like a locker room huddle before a game. The team figures out which players will play and get one another pumped up.

On Tuesday starting at 7 p.m., both Republicans and Democrats will elect the delegates who go on to represent their precinct in the county and state assemblies.

In the case of the Democrats, delegates will align themselves with one of the party’s candidates for governor.

The state assemblies, for both parties, happen in mid-April.
