Dr. Temple Grandin to speak at Ag Expo in Rifle

Dr. Temple Grandin is an expert on animal behavior and also an advocate for those with autism. She’s this year’s keynote speaker at Garfield County’s Ag Expo.

Grandin is a professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Her work has been significant for the animal-welfare movement: Livestock handling systems she’s designed have been adopted by slaughterhouses around the country.

Grandin is also a spokesperson for those with autism, having the disorder herself. She was portrayed by Claire Danes in the biopic “Temple Grandin.”

She will speak at the Garfield County fairgrounds in Rifle on Saturday.
