Eagle BOCC goes into executive session on Tree Farm

Aspen Public Radio

Eagle County’s Board of Commissioners met behind closed doors on Tuesday. One issue they discussed was  Tree Farm, a controversial development proposal in El Jebel.

The developer has applied to build 340 residencies on about 40 acres, across Highway 82 from Whole Foods.

The controversy stems from possible impacts resulting growth might have on the surrounding area, like increased traffic congestion. During Tuesday’s regular morning meeting, Eagle County’s three commissioners held an executive session and one of the two items they discussed was the proposed development. A spokesperson from Eagle County said the commissioners met with their attorney to understand any potential legal issues that might come up when they review the proposal next week.

The applicant is Woody Ventures, LLC. The county commissioners were scheduled to review the applicant’s updated proposal in late February, but the meeting was tabled at the applicant’s request. It was rescheduled for next Tuesday, March 21.
