On Monday night, the Eagle County Commissioners approved a controversial development in the mid-valley. The final vote was 2 to 1.
The Tree Farm will encompass 43 acres. The developer wants to build 340 units.
The meeting was the fifth between commissioners and the developer.
The county’s staff recommended approval with conditions. They said the developer’s preliminary plan addressed their affordable housing guidelines.
Proponents claimed the project would help begin to ease the affordable housing crisis.
Detractors said it will augment the mid-valley’s traffic problem and that it doesn’t do nearly enough to address the affordable housing needs.
