Eagle County continues to mull over Tree Farm

Aspen Public Radio

The Tree Farm development in the mid-valley has been the subject of fierce debate, particularly over the last several months. Eagle County’s commissioners are nearing a decision, which could come at the meeting on Monday night.

This is the fifth hearing between the applicant, Woody Ventures and Eagle County’s Commissioners. It might be the last. If it isn’t, the process at least appears to be drawing to a close.

On Monday night, the three commissioners will hear a summary of the project and will also have time to deliberate and hear from the public.

During the last meeting, the Woody Ventures team addressed concerns that there’s not enough affordable housing included in the project, which spans 43 acres and includes up to 340 units.

The Town of Basalt, which borders the development, has implored the county’s commissioners to deny the project.

Eagle County staff is recommending approval with conditions.
