  Today is Friday, August 7th.Pianist Julian Martin will present a master class this morning at 10 in Harris Concert Hall.A free noon Spotlight Recital takes place today at the Aspen Community Church.At 2 today in the Aspen Chapel, top piano students offer a free recital.

A chamber music recital featuring Christopher Stark’s Ignatian Exercises and the Schubert Octet will be performed today at 4:30 in Harris Concert Hall.A semi-staged performance of Verdi’s Aida will be given tonight at 7:30 in the Benedict Music Tent. Robert Spano leads the Aspen Festival Orchestra and a cast of internationally renowned singers, joined by the Colorado Symphony Chorus directed by Duain Wolfe.Nicholas McGegan conducts the American Academy of Conducting at Aspen Orchestra during the weekly Opera Scenes Master Class at the Wheeler Opera House tomorrow morning at 10.The Aspen Chamber Symphony under the direction of Federico Cortese (core-TEZ-ay) performs tomorrow at 6pm in the Benedict Music Tent. They’ll be joined by violinist Veronika Eberle (EBB-er-lee) for the Shostakovich 1st Violin Concerto, and by Edgar Meyer performing his own Double Bass Concerto in E. Also on the program, works of Mozart and Ginastera.On Sunday at 4pm in the Benedict Music Tent, Josep (yo-sepp) Caballe-Domenech (cob-igh-AY-do-MEN-eck) leads the Aspen Philharmonic in Borodin’s Prince Igor Overture, the Sibelius Violin Concerto with Sarah Chang as soloist, the Berlioz song cycle Les nuits d’ete featuring mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard, and Respighi’s The Pines of Rome.
