Fourth of July events in the valley

The fireworks display in Glenwood Springs is still on this evening in Two Rivers Park.

Marianne Virgili, president and CEO of the Glenwood Springs Chamber Resort Association, said the fire risk is lower there compared to other areas in the valley because Glenwood’s fireworks are what’s called a low altitude display.

Here are some events happening throughout the valley today that are non-fire related:

-The 31st annual Boogie’s Buddy Race, starting at 9 a.m. at the Rio Grande Park

-The annual Old Fashioned 4th of July Parade on Main Street in Aspen at 11 a.m – festivities continue throughout the day and night.

-The 38th annual Kids Parade in Carbondale, starting at 10:30 a.m., followed by a pool party by Sopris Park

-A community picnic with lawn games and fireworks, starting at 12 p.m. in Snowmass Village

-Fourth of July Concert in the Benedict Music Tent, starting at 4 p.m. – Lawrence Isaacson will conduct, and the AMFS band will play patriotic favorites.

-A celebration in Glenwood Springs, including fireworks at the Two Rivers Park Pavilion, starting at 5 p.m.
