Hats off to Froggy

The life of Scott Whitlock, known as “Froggy” to his friends, will be celebrated by the community this weekend.

Whitlock’s family will be traveling from the Denver area to attend a ceremony Saturday at 10:30 a.m., at the Iselin Softball Field. Whitlock was a rec-league softball umpire for decades. The role brought together his passion for America's pastime and his commitment to camaraderie. In an Aspen Public Radio interview last year, he spoke to the inclusiveness of the local leagues.

“It’s the beat and the pulse of the summer time social scene in Aspen. It brings together all walks of life from bank presidents, cooks, service industry, everybody is the same out on the playing field,” said Whitlock.

Following the ceremony, the public is invited to a Celebration of Life at the Eagles Club, where Whitlock worked behind the bar. Whitlock was struck by a vehicle on Highway 82 last week.
