Heavier security at Aspen Ideas Festival this year

Aspen Institute

There will be heavy security at the Aspen Ideas Festival and around town with the arrival of the vice president, secretary of state, attorney general, other cabinet members and world leaders.

Walter Isaacson, president and CEO of the Aspen Institute, apologized in advance for any inconveniences in a press release issued yesterday. The Secret Service and other agencies will be securing the Aspen Meadows campus, making it only open for pass holders. There will also be traffic disruptions the morning of Saturday, July 2 when Vice President Biden visits.

Some of this summer’s attendees include Laura Bush, Newt Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Joe Biden, Bob Costas, John Kerry, Loretta Lynch and more.
