Featuring US Air Force Chief of Staff, Gen. Mark A. Welsh III. As Chief, Gen. Welsh serves as the senior uniformed Air Force officer responsible for the organization, training, and equipping of 690,000 active-duty, Guard, Reserve, and civilian forces serving in the United States and overseas. As a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the General and other service chiefs function as military advisers to the Secretary of Defense, National Security Council, and to the President. McCloskey Speakers Series: The Birth Of American Independence with History Scholar Joseph J. Ellis
This discussion will feature Joseph J. Ellis, one of the nation's leading scholars of American history. He will be featured in conversation with Walter Isaacson on the topic of his newest book, "Revolutionary Summer: The Birth of American Independence," released in June 2013. Ellis is the author of seven books, Ellis was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for "Founding Brothers: the Revolutionary Generation" and won the National Book Award for "American Sphinx," a biography of Thomas Jefferson.
