Man wanted in connection to Routt Co. homicide found at Trappers Lake

Routt County Sheriff's Office

It took a team of searchers three hours to find a man wanted in connection to a homicide case. Cole Pollard went missing Tuesday in northern Garfield County. Aspen Public Radio's Marci Krivonen reports.

Pollard is a person of interest in a homicide that happened Monday at a home near Steamboat Springs in Routt County. Authorities discovered the body of Patricia Richmond, 23,  who was tied up and lying face down.

Cole Pollard’s vehicle was discovered at Trappers Lake, one day later. Early Wednesday (7/1), law enforcement agencies launched a ground foot search. Walt Stowe is a spokesman for the Garfield County Sheriff's Office.

"We had probably a dozen people from different agencies involved in this search, only because it’s a large area and there’s a lot of ground to cover," he says.

A camper spotted Pollard near the restrooms at a campground. He was unarmed and did not resist arrest. He was taken to Routt County. Trappers Lake is a remote area with a campground and lodge in the Flattops Wilderness, north of Glenwood Springs.
