As the City of Aspen lays the groundwork for an overhaul of the historic pedestrian malls, input is sought from the public.

This is the pre-planning phase, so locals who sign up now to participate will have an early influential voice in the process.

“These different groups will just really drive the project and let the team know what the community wants and how we can make everyone’s needs accommodated,” said Samantha Montgomery, who is on the team overseeing the restoration.

Stakeholders will be organized under categories such as tourism, arts, history and sustainability. Interested applicants can submit their information through the project’s website and will be part of a series of meetings throughout the year to gain insight on the best ways to modernize the infrastructure under the brick-lined promenades, without compromising the signature character of Aspen’s downtown.
