RE-1 Superintendent contract talks may end mid-March

The Board of Education for the Roaring Fork School District met Wednesday night. Officials are tackling a contentious decision, about superintendent contracts for next year.

The issue is current superintendent Diana Sirko continuing on for a few more years before Assistant Superintendent Rob Stein can move into that position. Some parents strongly believe the change should happen sooner rather than later. Reporter Bob Ward is with Aspen Journalism and was at the latest Board gathering.

“When I left the meeting and they adjourned, they were going into executive session to discuss contracts. And their organizational consultant was there, the assistant superintendent and superintendent were there, and they were all going behind closed doors to, I got the sense, knock out these contracts.”

The goal is to have those ready in time for a meeting in mid March.
