Recall underway for Snowmass councilman

Carolyn Sackariason

The citizen who initiated a recall effort of an elected official in Snowmass Village is a former mayor of that town. Aspen Public Radio’s Carolyn Sackariason reports.

Longtime Snowmass Village resident Jim Hooker this week filed an affidavit to initiate a recall of town councilman Chris Jacobson. Last month, Jacobson was arrested on suspicion of driving drunk and accused of tearing up the Pitkin County Jail, causing over $14,000 in damage.

Hooker served as town councilman and mayor in the village in the 1980s and ‘90s. The town  has yet to certify his recall petition form.

If the recall is successful, the council has the option to either appoint a new council person or hold a special election. Carolyn Sackariason, Aspen Public Radio news.
