RFSD's test results mostly below state averages

Roaring Fork School District

The Roaring Fork School District got students' PSAT and SAT test results back from last spring. Math scores are keeping up with the state average. Reading and writing, however, are not, which concerns the district's superintendent, Rob Stein.

Colorado’s standardized tests changed two years ago, so it is hard to spot trends just yet, but the SAT scores show the district has work to do in order to get students prepared for college. They’re behind state averages in many cases.

About 30 percent of the students were in the lowest category for the PSAT’s reading and writing portion. According to Stein, one factor is the district’s high concentration of students still learning English.
