Silt couple charged with years of theft at ranch

Garfield County Sheriff's office

The Garfield County’s Sheriff Office arrested a married couple from Silt on Tuesday.

Charles Farris and his wife, Charla, are charged with stealing more than $500,000 from the Bear Wallow Ranch, outside Glenwood Springs, where they worked for nearly 25 years.

After eight months of investigating, authorities searched the couple’s house near Silt.

The Bear Wallow Ranch covers about 2,600 acres. The owner is Joe Rogers, Jr., a former CEO of the fast-food chain Waffle House.

The ranch was for sale for at least a time in 2014, but has since been taken off the market.
