The Aspen Skiing Company hopes to inform voters as part of its ongoing educational series.
SkiCo’s “Aspen U” event Monday will focus on the nine statewide ballot initiatives that Coloradans are facing this fall.
Carol Hedges, executive director of the non-partisan non profit, Colorado Fiscal Institute, will present the measures and explain how each is related to the overall state economy.
SkiCo sustainability director Matt Hamilton said learning about the state budget helps explain local initiatives too.
“A number of these issues, but particularly the education ones, are a direct result of the fact that we have really hamstrung our state budget and as a result we’re asked individually to fund all of these projects,” Hamilton said.
The event begins at 5:30pm at the Limelight hotel.
