The 42nd annual Snowmass Balloon Festival launches Friday morning.

For three days, hot air balloons will be flying high over Snowmass Village. It all starts with the Carter Memorial Colorado Rat Race. The annual tradition features 15 pilots racing to see who can fly the farthest downvalley in three hours.

There will also be a series of activities and events over the weekend, including Snowmass Septemberfest. This new celebration features food, wine and sake tastings, music, local vendors and more. Saturday will also feature a Glow Show and a free concert from cover band Nevermind The ’90s.

On Sunday morning, pilots will pair up and launch together for the Snowmass Ascension and Balloon Dance. All this, and more, takes place at Snowmass Base Village.
