Top-to-bottom skiing starts Wednesday

Barbara Platts

Now that Mother Nature has awoken from her slumber, let the real skiing begin.

Almost a week after what was to be the official opening day on Aspen Mountain, the Aspen Skiing Co. will have to top-to-bottom skiing and riding starting Wednesday.

There are over 3,200 feet of vertical and 135 acres of terrain served by three lifts: The Silver Queen Gondola, Ajax Express and Gent’s Ridge. Snowmass will see additional trails open from the mid-station of the Village Express. Expect additional terrain to open on both mountains by the weekend.

And SkiCo is reminding people that there is no uphilling allowed on Aspen Mountain while snowmaking and trail prep is being done, which will be through at least Dec. 2.

Uphilling is still an option on the other three mountains.
