Valley Roundup Nov. 27, 2015

Welcome to Valley Roundup. I’m Carolyn Sackariason

Homeowners in Battlement Mesa are stuck with oil and gas drilling in their backyards, and they say the potential for that activity was not disclosed to them when they bought their properties more than two decades ago.

Garfield County is buying the old Glenwood Springs Library to turn it into a senior citizen center, which is a needed service for the community.

And a local developer has bought the Snowmass Center from Related Colorado, the company that is backing out of developing Base Village and selling to a Vail Valley-based firm.

An infamous house that blocks the views of Mount Daly in Snowmass Village has gotten the attention of the New York Times because of its famous owners.

Meanwhile, World Cup races are underway on Aspen Mountain. U.S. women racers are the favorites to win.

Finally, a new lift may be carrying ski athletes up the west side of Ajax by the time the World Cup finals come here in 2017.

Joining me this week are Randy Essex, editor of the Glenwood Post Independent, Aspen Daily News contributing editor Madeleine Osberger and Snowmass Sun editor Jill Beathard.

Valley Roundup is a production of Aspen Public Radio news.
