Week in the Arts - February 1

The Aspen Music Festival and School starts its Winter Recital Series on Tuesday. Cellist David Finckel and Cellist Wu Han will play pieces by Mendelssohn and Chopin at Harris Concert Hall.

Wes Magyar opens his show at Anderson Ranch Arts Center in Snowmass on Tuesday.

En Hiver opens at the Red Brick Center for the Arts. The collection features pieces that represent the winter landscape, and abstract the colors and feel of the season.

The Belly Up has two big names coming for two shows each. On Wednesday, STS9 plays the first of two sold-out shows. The jam band also adds electronic elements to their music to differentiate themselves from other jam bands.

Friday, Grace Potter takes her talent to the Belly Up stage. This time around, she has left her band “The Nocturnals” at home. Potter released her first solo album “Midnight” in August. It is a poppier and straight-forward collection of songs.

Saturday in Snowmass, the Lynn Britt Cabin hosts its kickoff party. The event includes a pig roast and drinks from Woody Creek Distillers. It starts in the late afternoon.

SkiSpree comes to Sunlight Mountain in Glenwood Springs on Saturday. The weekend-long event features fireworks, a chili cookoff and rail jams.
