Week in the Arts - February 22

The Banff Mountain Film Festival comes to Aspen’s Wheeler Opera House on Tuesday and Wednesday. This is probably the most well-known outdoor film festival.

 

Wednesday at The Art Base in Basalt is an art talk with Judy Hill Lovins and Amory Lovins. They will discuss their experiences in photography.

 

Thursday, The Aspen Art Museum is holding an opening reception for a new exhibit by Liz Larner. The event includes a full tour of the museum.

 

In Glenwood Springs, the play “Anton in Show Business” is being performed at Colorado Mountain College’s Spring Valley Campus. The play follows three actresses who try to perform Chekhov in Texas.

 

LeAnn Rimes performs at the Belly Up on Friday. The country singer has sold more than 44 million albums in her career. She’s also the youngest person to win a Grammy award.

 

Carbondale’s Thunder River Theatre Company opens its performance of “Freud’s Last Session” on Friday in Carbondale. The play depicts a fictional meeting between Sigmund Freud and C.S. Lewis - two very different intellectual minds.

 

The Audi Power of Four comes to the valley. Competitors must summit all four Aspen Snowmass mountains.

 

4AM plays at the Black Nugget in Carbondale on Saturday.
