Week in the Arts - February 29

  The exhibit “Dreaming About Thinking” closes at Colorado Mountain College in Glenwood Springs today. The artists uses ceramics and mixed media to create surreal pieces.

The film “Skiing Everest” is being shown at the Wheeler Opera House on Tuesday. Mike Marolt and his twin brother Steve documented their accomplishment of being the first skiers to descend from above 8,000 meters.

 

Derek Cressman speaks at Explore Booksellers on Wednesday. His book “When Money Talks” explores the story of big money in politics.

 

Join the Carbondale Council on Arts and Humanities and the Marble Distilling Company on Thursday for distillery drawing. Draw models from the upcoming green is the new black fashion show, at the distillery in Carbondale.

 

The Apres Ski Cocktail Classic starts on Thursday. It is a celebration of the relationship between cocktails and apres events.

 

Samantha Gates’ photography exhibit will be shown at Bonfire Coffee in Carbondale on Friday. She takes pictures of landscapes and portraits.

 

Griz plays the Belly Up on Friday, with a blend of rock, blues and dubstep.

 

See Brazilian and American jazz at Heather’s Savory Pies and Tapas Bar in Basalt on Saturday. Josefina Mendez, Tim Fox and Mark Fox play a set starting at 7 p.m.

Sunday in Aspen, the Broadway star Susan Egan performs at the Wheeler Opera House. The event is a collaboration with Theatre Aspen and the Wheeler. Theatre Aspen executive director Paige Price will also join Egan for a few songs.
